In the year to May, the Pocket Phone Shop's turnover was over £52m. Richard Shearer, One2One commercial director, said the operator had paid a fair price for the retailer.
One2One intends to take the 167 stores, keeping the Pocket Phone Shop brand and add it to its existing portfolio of 155 dual-branded stores. It is Britain's second biggest independent phone retailer behind Carphone Warehouse. They each invested £15,000 to start the company and sold it yesterday for £73m. The Pocket Phone company was established in 1994 by Mr Jordan and colleague Andrew Briggs, who had both worked together at Charles Dunstone's Carphone Warehouse chain. "All being well we will have a decision by the end of this week." "At the moment Mr Jordan's bid is on the table with the administrators," a spokesman for the football club said. Both men are understood to have offered bids over £10m.
The new owner of the club is expected to be announced tomorrow, with Mr Jordan up against a consortium led by Chinese businessman Jerry Lim.
